How To Turn Off WhatsApp Group Notifications
WhatsApp is currently the most popular instant messaging app. It is a cool platform for chatting with friends and family members. Amazing feature of WhatsApp is Group Chat. We all are part of various WhatsApp groups. These groups help us stay updated from friends and family members. But you may have noticed that sometimes the notifications of these groups are annoying. I have heard these queries often:
How to turn off WhatsApp Group Notifications? How Can I Mute A Group? How Can I Get Rid Of WhatsApp Group Notifications? Well you can go to WhatsApp>Settings>Notifications and in Group Notifications section, turn off the notification alerts by selecting the Notification tone to None. But that would only remove the notification sound. Chat notifications would be still there in the Notification Panel. But here I am providing you some methods with which you can turn off notifications of a particular WhatsApp group entirely. You will not even see notifications in the Notification Panel. Make sure that your WhatsApp is up-to-date.
Turn off Whatsapp Group Notifications in Android:
Method 1:
- Open the WhatsApp application and go to the group whose notifications you do not want to receive. - Once you are inside the group, touch the menu button of your phone. A menu like the one shown below will appear.
- From the Menu, select Mute. As soon as you click on the Mute option, a popup will appear as shown in the screenshot below.
- Select the time period for which you want to turn off notifications(or mute the group). The maximum period which you can select is one year.
- Uncheck the Show Notifications checkbox
Method 2:
If the above method method does not work for you, try this one. But this will turn off notifications of all groups which you are member of. You will still recieve notifications of individual messages.
- Go to Settings>Apps>WhatsApp and Disable all notifications.
- Open WhatsApp and enable popup notifications for message notifications(not group notifications).
Turn off WhatsApp Notifications in iPhone:
-Open WhatsApp and tap the Settings icon from the bottom right corner.
-From the Settings window, tap Notifications.
- In the Group Notifications section, slide the Alerts toggle button to turn off the group notifications.
